Sitting alone in her room had become a custom that Desdemona decided to do ever since school had ended. She hadn’t understood the exact reason for it’s closing, but it brought tears to her eyes. Was it all that hard to control the student body? Apparently it had been, which, had made it the all more amusing. Wondering exactly what had taken people all these years to resort to violence, she sat and doodled. It was a morning pass the time by thing she did when Rhiannon wasn’t around. Seems that girl always had somewhere to be and someplace to go. And, since Mona was more sluggish and let things come to her she stayed in the house. Sure, the occasional wondering was done, but she liked it here.
As she reached for another charcoal color she spotted something under the bed. It was an odd finding considering she kept nothing under her bed. Looking around, as though it were some dirty trick she began to crawl over her art tools towards it. Something about it was calling to her; she couldn’t well leave it alone now, could she? The answer to that was plain and simple in her mind. No, she had to find out what it was. Her hand moved slowly as her heart beat began to speed up. She didn’t quiet understand it, but she had a feeling that when she was close enough it would just vanish. And, being the curious person she was she really couldn’t have that now could she? It seemed down right wrong.
So, she moved ever closer until her hand gripped it. The box didn’t vanish, it wasn’t taken away by the ‘boogeyman’, and she could still feel it’s coldness beneath her finger tips. It was a type of metal covering for it was cold like ice and harder than wood. Sliding it out from under the bed was harder too. She wound up having to use both hands and she gasped when she saw it. The sharp silver coloring was gorgeous, and the design of random lines was simply intriguing. But, what was more interesting was what was inside the box. It had to be something interesting and good, after all, no one would put a boring, simple anything in such a complex box.
Again, her head spun around making sure no one was watching. A discovery like this should be made by her and her alone. No more sharing for this Ellis child. Smirking as her fingers traced the lid she began to lift. An old, dusty smell immediately filled her nostrils as though it hadn’t been opened in a few decades. She coughed a little and sneezed once before she dared to look into the box. However, that’s all it was: a box. It had a red velvet lining to keep secrets safe and well protected from a good shaking around, but, the contents were missing. Well, a lot of pointless stuff that was. However, now she had that jewelry box she needed and didn’t have to go to the store anymore.
Shrugging slightly she crawled over to her dresser and placed it on top. It was her beautiful box, and no one else’s. Now, to finish up the drawing she’d been working so hard on. She crawled back and grabbed the muggy brown she’d had before spotting the box and filled in the tree’s outlines with its color. Once done she sat back and grinned, a true grin. For, she had drawn a small child caved on the forest floor with darkness beginning to surround it. It wasn’t the most pleasant sight to people of the town, but to Desdemona it screamed peace. It was perfection.

Bustling about in the kitchen was not something that Rhiannon had planned to do, all she had wanted to do was make herself some food but it would seem that there wasn't any. Lazy Mona had easten all the food and didn't even bother going to get some more. It did make Rhia cross at times when she had to do everything for them in the house but she also wouldn't have it any other way. It was actually better to have something to do and have to go somewhere than to sit still and do nothing, she hardly wanted to get herself bored now did she? No. So that meant that she had to go out and do all the little things she needed to do to keep this house, her life, Mona's life and everything around them in order and besides, it made her feel a little more important.
Grabbing a piece of paper and pen, she sat down on the breakfast counter and started to jot down somethings that they needed. It didn't take her long to do but when she looked down at the list she could tell that she wasn't going to be out for a short while, and it would take her a lot of trips, to and from the car to get it into the house. It was a job that could really use an extra helping hand but Rhia would faint in Desdemona said she would help. That would just make her be so shocked as Mona was probably the laziest person that Rhiannon knew and the two knew that Rhia was the one who went out and did stuff, not Mona. If Mona went out and did things then Rhia would be bored out of her mind and shocked still, it just wouldn't be right.
Shaking her head at the mere thought of it, she shoved the list in her pocket and made her way into the hallway. There was no point in telling Mona that she was going out, the girl already knew that Rhia was always in and out and she would hear the door go anyway. Grabbing her coat and car keys she put her hand on the door. Almost instantly she could hear movement in Mona's bedroom, but maybe that was just her mind doing tricks on her but if it wasn't, she knew that her cousin was getting out her art stuff so she could do some doodling. A soft smile fell onto Rhia's face before she pulled open the door and left the house, her cousins pictures weren't always that nice but it was good that she had a little hobby, Rhia never had much time.
Ever since the car crash that her parents had been in, Rhia had been very worried about driving anywhere but Mona had managed to get her over that, but every now and again she got a bit jitttery, this was one of those times. Biting down on her lip, she looked at the car in the driveway and just couldn't force herself to move over to it and hop inside, and there was no way she was walking to the supermarket and back again. Looking back at the house, she closed her eyes, they needed food but she was in the middle of a slight break-down.. perhaps she could put off the shopping until tomorrow.. or perhaps the day after that?
As a chill ran down Rhia's spine, she gave the car one last look before turning around and stepping back inside the house, she just couldn't do it today. Sighing softly to herself, she hung the keys back on the hook and placed her coat in the understairs cupboard, they would just have to go out for dinner. Making her way quickly up the stairs she reached Mona's bedroom but for some reason didn't enter. Instead she stood outside just listening intently, she couldn't understand why she didn't knock and walk in but something was urging her not to, it was a bit odd really.
Almost instantly she heard movement and a frown appeared on her face, Mona never moved about in her bedroom, especially when she was doodling. Shaking the thought away, she knew that her brain must have just been doing tricks on her but then she heard movement again. Blinking her eyes, she still didn't knock, just stood outside listening at the door, sort of like someone ready to attack. It was odd and Rhia really didn't understand it but then she didn't understand many things lately. When everything went silent once more, Rhia lifted her hand and knocked on the door, she knew that Mona would know it was her but as always she spoke the same two words, "It's me"
